So… The icecup happening soon! In 9 days. Lots happening behind the scenes, I know Tom is working hard on this. I’ll get the scoop from him in a day or two and I’ll post more info here. Until then, the official icecup info can be found here. Stay tuned!

2008 is wrapping up and so has my first exhibit. Michelle and I took it down on Saturday. It was a killer success, thanks to everybody who checked it out.
Mega-thanks to the one and only Joe Bebel for inviting me to exhibit at Foufs, to JC Savard and all the crazy mofos at PhotoService for their help and support in regards to everything photography and gear related, and to Pierre-Luc and Bruno and the whole gang at Le Grand Cycle for keeping my bikes in top mechanical glory.
Now that this event is wrapped up, you can expect a ton of updates online…. I already tweaked the photo lottery page, and will upload a lot more tonight and in the days to come…
then the real promotion begins… 2009 is here!

It was great to see all of you, thanks for your amazing support and kind words.
This is only the beginning of my first campaign towards the 2010 book.
On my way to Foufs from Old Montreal, I caught up with Eric and Guillaume,
on their way as well. Of course I pulled out my camera as we were riding…

Halloween = messengers wearing suits.

Jerome Abramovitch of chapter9photography is proud to present his first solo exhibit, opening at Foufounes Electriques October 31st at 6pm. Projectmessenger is a long term thematic and lifestyle exploration of the bike messenger community that will be printed as a book in 2010. This exhibit scratches the surface of a much larger body of work that Jerome has shot over the course of the past 11 years.
Known for his striking portraits, razor sharp style and ability to capture softness in that which is often not soft, Jerome’s connection to the people he shoots is intimate, personal and tribal. On and off the road as a Montreal bike messenger from 1997 to 2004 while building up his freelance business, Jerome’s artistic development and sense of self has been very much affected by biking thousands of hours in the urban core – rain, snow or shine.
More often than not, being a messenger is not just a job, it’s a fast paced 24/7 lifestyle. Jerome’s photographs extract the individuals from the daily drind, capturing isolated moments in time that have stories of their own.
Shooting for the 2010 book continues throughout the next year with serious travel plans scheduled for various cities in the Americas and Europe, culminating with the CMWC in Tokyo September 2009.
The Foufs exhibit runs until December 27th.
